SECONDARY EDUCATION STUDENTS FROM THE LICEO CASTILLA SCHOOL PARTICIPATED IN AN INCLUSIVE CHEMISTRY WORKSHOP HELD IN THE FALCULTY OF SCIENCES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF BURGOS

A group of 31 students in the second year of secondary education from Liceo Castilla School of Burgos, one of whom is a member of ONCE (Spanish National Organization of the Blind), have participated in a chemistry workshop held on the 19th of November in the laboratory of Analytical Chemistry of the Faculty of Sciences. A set of experiments, which were oriented towards using other senses than that of sight to study the chemical processes that occur, were carried out. Inclusive laboratory practices, which can be carried out by all the students, decreased the attention to differences between students. Sighted students performed some of the experiments with their eyes covered to get a different perspective about the chemical changes and also with the aim of sensitizing them to the needs of the student who is disabled. Experiments and devices were adapted, with tactual markings…, in order to facilitate the participation of all the students. In the framework of the project, some experiments with wine were performed.

This activity was in conjunction with ONCE.
