COMMUNICATION AT EDULEARN20 CONFERENCE

TEACHERS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF BURGOS, I.E.S. TEGUISE AND SPANISH NATIONAL ORGANIZATION OF THE BLIND (ONCE), PRESENTED A COMMUNICATION AT EDULEARN20 CONFERENCE


As a result of a collaboration in the framework of the project, Ana Herrero and Susana Palmero, from the University of Burgos, and Teno Osorio, from I.E.S. Teguise, in conjunction with Jaime Muñoz, from ONCE (the Spanish national organization of the blind), presented a virtual communication at EDULEARN20 conference, the 12th annual International Conference on Education and New Learning Technologies held on the 6th-7th of July, 2020.

The communication “Inclusive chemistry laboratory practices with no barriers for blind and visually impaired students” presented a series of laboratory practices in the inclusion of blind and visually impaired field which are oriented towards using other senses than that of sight to perceive the chemical or physical processes that occur. The practices are designed mainly for secondary education, although many of them can be adapted also to other different educational levels. Although some of the materials used in the practices are available at the laboratory of the schools, many of them are completely safe and are used in the daily life. Some of the devices and procedures are adapted for blind and visually impaired students. Samples related to wine and must are analysed in some of the developed experiments.
